For the past two weeks, I've had the opportunity to improve my figure drawing with the assistance of a guy named Tommy who came in and guided my class. I attached 5 of my drawings below, in order from the least to most recent within the 2 weeks. At first, the guy named Tommy stressed me out. Searching lines?? Don't focus on one area for too long? Weird. By the end of the two weeks, figure drawing still stressed me out. I experienced a lot of hesitancy as I learned what components I was aiming for. At the beginning, I was just scribbling and making a body shape. I knew it looked bad, but there wasn't hesitancy. I feel that I definitely need to get a lot more practice to feel satisfied with my skill. The area I most need to work on is confidence, which should just come with practice. Throughout the whole workshop, I could get some drawings I loved, but I wasn't consistent. Maybe 1/10 of my figure drawings turn out good. Not all of my lines look organic and confident, which is hard to force while keeping in mind form and emphasis with little experience. I think I learned how to better represent a pose once adding in form. I've found it easy to display a pose with just a stick figure, but things start to get funky when you tell me to add form. I did get better at this throughout the process. I also learned what searching lines are, and how to use the cool string tearaway pencils... to an extent.
