Overall, the process of creating a sculpture of a face is very difficult. Clay is a very fun medium as you can do so much with it, but I think I prefer using it for less detail oriented work. I do think that re-attempting this assignment in the future would be super fun though. I still have to go in and sand some areas, as well as glue on the hair that broke off after it is fired. Some of my biggest struggles were creating the eyes and lips, both of which I redid around five times. As I attempted to smooth out my face, I also ended up slightly reshaping some areas as I kept smoothing them out, which created a less accurate final product. My clay was drying out, and at a certain point I just had to throw the towel in. I can definitely pick out the areas that I would alter if my clay was no longer bone dry. This project showed me how complex faces really are. Facial sculptures are now even more impressive to me. This process, although frustrating, was quite enjoyable. I picked up a lot of things that I can apply to any future facial sculpting that I do.
